WD2001: Lines Wrap Incorrectly in Document Created in Microsoft Word 5.1 (302913)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a document in Microsoft Word 2001 for Mac that was created in Microsoft Word 5.1 for the Macintosh, the text may wrap in the middle of a word or after a single letter.

CAUSE

Microsoft Word 5.1 uses a different method of font identification from later versions.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download and install the Microsoft Office 2001 Service Release 1 file. To do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/download/office2001/update_905.xml&secid=10&ssid=25&flgnosysreq=True

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac Service Release 1.
