This article was previously published under Q302895 SYMPTOMS
A program that runs multiple I/O operations to fiber channel disks that are connected to a storage router may stop responding (hang) after the network connection is lost.
CAUSE
The code defect in the Windows 2000 scsiport driver causes this behavior. While I/O is happening, if the miniport driver returns SCSI Request Blocks (SRBs) with status SRB_STATUS_BUSY and there are also some pending I/O requests in scsiport driver queue, then scsiport may never retry the SRB that was returned with SRB_STATUS_BUSY and all the pending requests in the scsiport queue remain pending forever. This may cause the program to hang because I/O requests remains pending forever with scsiport.
