ACC2002: Hyperlink Text Changes to Question Marks When You Paste the Text into Other Office Programs (302841)

This article applies only to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb).
SYMPTOMS
When you paste a hyperlink from a Microsoft Access table into Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerPoint, the display text of the hyperlink changes to question marks or to other unreadable characters.
When you paste the hyperlink as text, the characters look as you would expect.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the display text contains characters from a code page other than 1252 (Western European).
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
- Copy the hyperlink to the Clipboard.
- Switch to the program and the document into which you want to insert the hyperlink.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste as Hyperlink.
For Microsoft Word only, follow these additional steps:
- Right-click the hyperlink, and then click Edit Hyperlink.
- In the Text to display text box, press CTRL+V to paste the text from the Clipboard, and then click OK.
