BUG: Cannot Copy an Existing Field Element to a New Location in BizTalk Editor (302766)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q302766

SYMPTOMS

When you use the BizTalk Editor, you cannot copy an existing Field element to a new location without changing its name.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in BizTalk Server 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce This Behavior:
  1. Start the BizTalk Editor.
  2. Create a new Blank Specification.
  3. Create the following structure:

    • RootNode
      • Record1
        • Field1
      • Record2
  4. Make sure that Field1 is declared as type Element.
  5. Attempt to copy and paste Field1 to Record2.
When Field1 is pasted, the BizTalk Editor creates it as Field11. If you try to change the field name to Field1, you receive the following error message:
A field element or record with name "Field1" already exists in the tree. You cannot rename a field element to the same name as an existing element or record. For more information about creating a new node using the same name as an existing node, see Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 Help.
