FIX: Commerce Server 2002 User Import DTS Task Fails and an Out of Memory Event Is Logged (302696)

SYMPTOMS

When you run a User Import DTS Task in Commerce Server, the task may fail, and the following error messages may appear in the event log:
EventID: 32774 Failure to allocate client object manager class instance multi-val virt buf ptr array from virtual buffer, SCODE: -2147024882
EventID 3 DoAsyncFuncCall(), excepion is async func, seqID: The SCODE, is OS error 14 : Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you import a lot of data.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Commerce Server 2002. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do any of the following:
  • Import the Web log file data to multiple sets of files for importing.
  • Configure the system to have more available paged pool memory.
  • Dedicate systems for the user import process, OLAP services, and SQL services.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Commerce Server 2002. This problem was first corrected in Commerce Server 2002 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
