WD2000: Cannot Insert Addresses from Works Suite Address Book into Word Envelopes and Labels (302603)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 2000
- Microsoft Word 2002
This article was previously published under Q302603 SYMPTOMS When you click the Insert Address button in the Envelopes and Labels dialog box to insert an address from the Microsoft Works Suite
address book to an envelope or label in Microsoft Word, you receive the
following error message: Logon failed. You must log on
to Microsoft Exchange to access your address book. Error code: "Unspecified
error". CAUSE This behavior occurs because the Works Suite address book
is not compatible with Word. Works uses the Windows Address Book, and this
contact list (address book) does not integrate with Word. This behavior is by
design. As a result, you cannot insert addresses from the Works Suite address
book into Word envelopes and labels. WORKAROUND To work around this behavior, use the Microsoft Works Word
Processor in the Works Suite to create an envelope or label, and then insert an
address from the Works Suite Address Book. To do this, follow these steps.
