SYMPTOMS

When you drag a text box over a table that is formatted with Right-to-left table direction, the text box disappears completely or is moved to a different location from where you placed it.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, set the text box position in the Format Text Box dialog box instead of dragging the text box. If you set the position to a value that is measured from page or margin, you can drag the text box to a new position.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Select the text box.
  2. On the Format menu, click Text Box.
  3. Click the Layout tab, and then click Advanced.
  4. Click the Absolute Position button in the Horizontal option group, and then type the horizontal position that you want in the text box.
  5. In the to the right of list box, select Page or Margin. This makes the position of the text box independent of the content and layout of the table.
  6. Click OK two times.
You can now position your table correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
