Joystick: Error Message When You Install Microsoft SideWinder Software (302470)

When you attempt to install Microsoft SideWinder software, you may receive an error message similar to one of the following:
Can not find file on specified path.
The file '<filename>' on Windows 98 CD-ROM cannot be found.
Insert Windows 98 CD-ROM in the selected drive, and click OK.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the installation software is looking in the wrong path for .cab files.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods to locate the .cab files.
Method 1: .cab Files on Hard Drive- At the message, click Browse.
- In the Folders box, double-click C:\.
- Double-click the Windows folder.
- Double-click the options folder or the folder where the .cab files are stored.
- Double-click the cabs folder.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
The installation should complete.
Method 2: .cab Files on System CD-ROM- When you receive the error message, click Browse.
- Insert your Windows CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
- In the Drives box, point to the arrow, and then click your CD-ROM drive letter.
- Double-click the Windows folder.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- When all of the files are copied, replace the Windows CD-ROM with the SideWinder CD-ROM, and then click Next.
