The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Site Server 3.0
  • Microsoft Site Server 3.0 Commerce Edition

This article was previously published under Q302271

SUMMARY

Site Server 3.0 and Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition can be configured to work with Microsoft SQL Server 2000. For compatibility reasons, there are several guidelines that must be followed.

MORE INFORMATION

Site Server 3.0 and Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition work with SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1 if the following guidelines are met:
  • Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 4 must be installed.
  • A default install of SQL Server must be used. A named instance install is not supported.
  • Due to a known issue with MDAC 2.6 (which is installed by SQL Server 2000) and effects it may have with the Usage Analysis Database Setup Wizard, it is recommended that SQL Server 2000 be installed on a remote server instead of on the same computer as Site Server 3.0. If Usage Analysis is not being used, there are no known issues with having Site Server 3.0 and SQL Server 2000 both on the same computer.
