Error Message: Error 6001: System Could Not Find the Specified File (302214)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 Site Builder, you may receive the following error message after the logon dialog box:
Error 6001: System file not found.

-or-

Error: 6001
Description: The system cannot find the file specified.
This error has been observed on computers that are running the following operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

CAUSE

If Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later is set to Work Offline on the File menu, and if the Internet Information Services Web server is running on the same computer, you will receive this error message.

WORKAROUND

Click to remove the check mark from the Work Offline command on the File menu of Internet Explorer.
