"Resource Replace Failure" Error When You Replace an Item with a Renamed Item (302114)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Content Management Server 2001
- NCompass Resolution 4.0
This article was previously published under Q302114 SYMPTOMS When you try to replace resources in the resource gallery
and the file name extensions for the new and old resources do not match, the
replacement operation is unsuccessful, and you receive an error message.
For example:
- Upload an image with the .bmp file name extension to the
resource gallery.
- Log on to the Web Author by using Microsoft Internet
Explorer.
- Try to replace the resource item that you uploaded in step
1 with another image that has a file extension other than .bmp.
Note that you receive a "Resource Replace Failure" file upload
error message. RESOLUTION To work around this behavior, install Microsoft Office on
your system. NOTE: You can modify the registry key to support MIME types. Where the
MIME type cannot be determined, Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2001
compares the file name extensions for the new file and the existing resource.
If they match, MCMS 2001 allows the replace. For additional information about how to
modify the registry to support MIME types, click the article number below to
