- Microsoft Outlook 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q301975 SYMPTOMS
When you try to type your password to log on to a Microsoft Exchange Server using Outlook 2001 for Mac, there is not a response in the Password field, although some masked characters appear.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if you use certain later models of Apple Macintosh PowerBooks with the embedded numeric keypad activated with the NUM LOCK key.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, turn the NUM LOCK key off.
MORE INFORMATION
When the NUM LOCK key, designated with the F5 key on the PowerBook models, is on, only the numeric and mathematic operator functions may be entered, and alphabetical characters are not operational in the embedded keypad pattern.
This behavior does not occur on the Apple Standard or Extended keyboards.
