PIE2000: Cannot Install Picture It! Express 2000 (301971)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install the Microsoft Picture It! Express 2000 program, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
Setup could not launch the Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 installation.
You then receive the following error message:
Canceling the Installation Wizard.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you try to install a Works Suite program without using the Works Suite installation program. Works Suite programs need to be installed using the Works Suite installation program instead of the Setup program found on the program's CD-ROM.

RESOLUTION

Follow these steps to install Picture It! Express 2000:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

  3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Works 2000 Setup Launcher, and then click Add/Remove.
  4. Click Customize.
  5. Click the Microsoft Picture It! Express icon.
  6. Follow the instructions on screen to complete the installation.
