SUMMARY

If you click to clear the Add new documents to Documents on Start Menu check box in the TweakUI tool, programs that comply with the Windows 2000 Logo program no longer display the most recently used file lists (MRUs). This includes the MRUs in the File, Save, or Open dialog boxes.

MORE INFORMATION

For a Windows-based program to be certified for Windows 2000, the program must honor the Group Policy setting that is in the NoRecentDocsHistory value in the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

When this policy is enabled, the program must not display any MRU lists. The policy is enabled if the value is 01 00 00 00; the policy is disabled if the value is 00 00 00 00.

When you click to clear the Add new documents to Documents on Start Menu check box in TweakUI, you do not change the Group Policy not to display MRUs.
