Application Center 2000 enables NetBIOS over TCP (NetBt) support on all management (back-end) network adapters (NICs) of cluster servers when you use Network Load Balancing (NLB) for load balancing. If you use NLB and you do not want to have NetBt support turned on on these adapters, follow the procedure in the "More Information" section of this article.
NOTE: When you turn off NetBt support on NLB clusters, you may experience periods of unstable cluster operation if DNS name resolution for the backend adapters fails or if the IP address of any backend adapter is changed. If you turn off NetBt resolution, and then experience cluster connectivity issues, you may be asked to manually enter all management NIC IP addresses in the host file on each cluster server.
