This article was previously published under Q301674 SYMPTOMS
The Microsoft IAS accounting log shows ClassAttrib in hexadecimal digits instead of ANSI characters. This problem only occurs when other non-Microsoft RAS/NAS devices use IAS server for RADIUS authentication. For example, the log file may contain the following entry:
"MAIL","IAS",06/14/2001,17:42:01,1,"testusr","mytestserver.net/Users/testuser",....."0x7873746F703A2052756C653131",,,..
The log that is associated with the "testuser" logon shows "0x7873746F703A2052756C653131" instead of "xstop: Rule11" (the specified string for class attribute 25).
