WD2001: Word or PowerPoint Cannot Find the Spelling or Grammar File for French Canadian (301622)

SYMPTOMS

When you check the spelling and grammar of a Word document or a PowerPoint presentation by using the French Canadian language, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Word cannot find the grammar file for French Canadian

-or-

PowerPoint couldn't find the spelling file for French Canadian

You then receive the following message:

The spelling check is complete.

This behavior occurs even though the French Language Proofing Tools are installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download and install the Microsoft Office 2001 Service Release 1 file. To do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/download/office2001/update_905.xml&secid=10&ssid=25&flgnosysreq=True

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac Service Release 1.
