SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft SideWinder Game Voice software, you may receive an error message similar to one of the following:
Failed to create Database 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Hardware\Game Voice\ASR_DB'(Err:12)
Failed to create Database 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Hardware\Game Voice\ASR_DB'(Err:1)

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps to install the SideWinder Game Voice software:
  1. Insert the compact disc into the CD-ROM drive.

    The Setup program starts automatically.
  2. Click Start SideWinder Game Voice Setup.
  3. Click Next twice.
  4. Select the country or region where you acquired the software, and then click Next.
  5. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.
  6. Click Browse, and in the Folder name box type C:\gvinstall.
  7. Click OK, and then follow the steps to complete the installation.
