PRB: SQL Server Connection Problems Occur After You Uninstall BizTalk Server 2000 SP1 (301581)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 SP1

This article was previously published under Q301581

SYMPTOMS

After you uninstall BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may experience SQL Server connection problems when you attempt to access the BizTalk Document Tracking user interface.

CAUSE

During the installation of BizTalk Server 2000 the Connection.vb file is modified by the installation program to include the SQL Server connection information that is specific to your installation. When you uninstall BizTalk Server 2000 SP1, all files are reverted to the version found on your installation CD. This version does not include the changes made to the Connection.vb file.

RESOLUTION

Before you uninstall BizTalk Server 2000 SP1, save a copy of your Connection.vb file, which is located in the <installdir>\BizTalkTracking\VBscripts folder. Save this copy to a location outside of the BizTalk Server root. After you uninstall BizTalk Server 2000 SP1, restore the copy to its original location (overwriting the file that remained there after the uninstall).

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
