SYMPTOMS

In HTML view in Microsoft FrontPage 2000, if you insert an HTML comment in a table cell that looks similar to this
<td width="33%">Text<!--Comment Remarks--></td>
				
the yellow HTML comment indicator does not appear in Normal view. This problem can occur if Show All on the Standard toolbar is selected.

The HTML comment indicator looks similar to the following:

CAUSE

An HTML comment indicator does not appear if a table cell is blank (empty).

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem and have the comment inserted in a table cell appear, use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Insert a Non-Breaking Space or Other Text Before the Comment

In HTML view, insert a non-breaking space (&nbsp;) or other text in front of the HTML comment in the table cell.

Method 2: Use the Comment Command

In either Normal or HTML view, click Comment on the Insert menu.

Method 3: Use the HTML Web Component

In Normal view, insert a comment by using the HTML Web Component. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Insert menu, click Web Component.
  2. In the Insert Web Component dialog box, in the Component type list, click Advanced Controls.
  3. In the Choose a control list, click HTML, and then click Finish.
  4. In the HTML Markup dialog box, type the HTML comment and click OK.
