XL: OLAP Cube Data Is Returned Alphabetically in PivotTable (301418)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a PivotTable that is based on data in an Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) cube that is offline (.cub file), Excel may sort the data by the first field alphabetically, even though the data wasn't sorted this way when the cube file was created.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, create your PivotTable by querying directly from a data source other than an OLAP cube file, or modify the original data so that the first field is numeric and denotes the order in which your data should appear.

For example, if your original data set is a worksheet that contains January, February, March, April and May in a single column, add a column of numbers before the first column of data; add the new column to your defined names, and re-create the offline cube file.
