OL2001: Error Message: "The Item Could Not Be Flagged for Follow Up..." (301142)

SYMPTOMS

When you receive a message in Outlook 2001 for Mac that has a follow-up reminder flagged and you open the item by using the Outlook viewer and dismiss the reminder, the following error message occurs when you try to change the flag status to complete:
The item could not be flagged for follow up. The function cannot be performed because the message has been changed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, dismiss the reminder and mark the flag as complete. If necessary, you can then open the message and either extend the reminder or set the flag again.
