SYMPTOMS

The "Upgrading from Access Workflow Designer for SQL Server" Help topic includes a subtopic named "Update or overwrite the modSystem database." This subtopic contains the following sentence:

Uninstall leaves the dat and log files for the modSystem database.

However, modSystem does not use .dat files: it uses .mdf files.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Install Microsoft Office XP Developer.
  2. Open Microsoft Office XP Developer Help.
  3. Locate the "Upgrading from Access Workflow Designer for SQL Server" topic. Locate the "Update or overwrite the modSystem database" subtopic. Note that this subtopic mentions .dat file extensions.
  4. Search the Workflow Server computer for modsystem.*. Note that the search returns modSystem.mdf and modSystem.ldf, but not modSystem.dat.
