Clip2002: Clip Imported into Clip Organizer Displayed as Red "X" (300866)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Clip Organizer 2002
This article was previously published under Q300866 SYMPTOMS
If you import a picture or motion clip into Microsoft Clip Organizer and the clips pane is set to thumbnail view, you may see an icon with a red "X" instead of the picture thumbnail.
If you attempt to preview the clip, Clip Organizer states that the feature (filter) does not exist and asks if you want to install it.
CAUSE
Clip Organizer allows you to import any type of media file that is supported by Microsoft Office XP, even if you have not chosen to install a graphic filter for that particular file type.
A typical installation of Office XP does not include all available graphics filters. When you import a file into Clip Organizer, and there is no corresponding graphics filter, the picture is displayed as a red X.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, right-click the clip, and then click Preview/Properties on the shortcut menu. When you are prompted, click Yes to install the graphics filter.
Or, install the filters manually. To do this, follow these steps:
- Run Office XP Setup.
- Click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
- Click the plus sign next to Office Shared Features, and then click the plus sign next to Converters and Filters.
- Click Graphics Filters, and then click Run from My Computer on the shortcut menu.
- Click Update.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
