OL2002: Contacts Are Not Available in the Send Fax Wizard for Windows 2000 Fax (300834)

When you print to the Microsoft Fax in Microsoft Windows 2000, Outlook Contacts are not available in the Send Fax Wizard. The Address Book window displays contacts from the Windows Address Book (WAB) that is used by Microsoft Outlook Express.
CAUSE
This is by design.
You can use the Microsoft Fax Service in an Outlook 2002 profile. However, when the Microsoft Fax Service is not used with Outlook 2002, the Microsoft Fax defaults to the Windows Address Book to address fax messages.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, export your Outlook Contacts to a Comma Separated Values (.csv) file, and then import them into the Windows Address Book.
How to Export Contacts to a Comma Separated Values (.CSV) File
Use the following steps to export your Outlook Contacts to a Comma Separated Values (.csv) file:
- In Outlook, on the File menu, click Import and Export.
- In the Import and Export Wizard, click Export to a file, and then click Next.
- In the Export to a file dialog box, click Comma Separated Values (Windows), and then click Next.
- Click the Contacts folder when you receive the prompt to Select a folder to export from, and then click Next.
- Click the Browse button and place the file in the folder of your choice when you receive the prompt to Save exported file as, and then type a name for the file.
- Click OK, and then click Next.
- Verify that the The following actions will be performed check box is selected, and then click Finish.
How to Import the .CSV File to the Windows Address Book
Use the following steps to import the .csv file to the Windows Address Book:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and click Address Book
- On the File menu, click Import, and then click Other Address Book.
- Click Text File (Comma Separated Values), and then click Import.
- Click Browse.
- Locate and click the file that you exported from Outlook, and then click Open.
- Click Next, and then click Finish. The starts the import process.
- Click OK when the import process if finished, and then click Close.
