SharePoint Portal Users Do Not Receive File Modification Notification (300625)

SYMPTOMS

Users who have permissions to a folder that is controlled by SharePoint Portal Server 2001 through a nested Active Directory directory service organizational unit group may not receive e-mail or portal notification when the files in the folder have been modified.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, add Everyone with Reader permission to all new folders, or do not use nested groups when you set security settings for the SharePoint workspace folder.
