Embedded Excel worksheets shrink when you edit them in PowerPoint 2000 (300523)

Before you modify the registry, make sure to back it up and make sure that you

Microsoft Excel worksheet, the worksheet object resizes itself. CAUSE This problem occurs when your video resolution is 1024 x
768 pixels or lower. RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, obtain the latest
service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the

service pack, create the QFE_Nice and the QFE_Ontario registry entries to resolve this issue. To do this:

- Quit Excel 2000, if Excel 2000 is running.
- Click Start, and then click
Run.
- In the Open box, type
regedit, and then click OK.
- Verify that the following registry key exists. Note If the registry key does exist, go to step 5.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Excel\Options\
If the registry key path does not exist,
create the registry key path. To create the registry key path, locate and then
select the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft - Click the Edit menu, click
New, and then click Key.
- Type Office, and then press
ENTER.
- Click the Edit menu, click
New, and then click Key.
- Type 9.0, and then press the
ENTER.
- Click the Edit menu, click
New, and then click Key.
- Type Excel, and then press the
ENTER.
- Click the Edit menu, click
New, and then click Key.
- Type Options, and then press the
ENTER.
- Click the Edit menu, click
New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type the following name for the new value:
- Press ENTER.
- Right-click the new DWORD value name, and then click
Modify.
- In the Value data box, type
1 and then click OK.
- Repeat steps 5 through to step 9, and then substitute the
registry DWORD value QFE_NICE with the following registry DWORD value:
- Exit Registry Editor.
STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in
Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP-3).
