OL2002: You Cannot Use E-mail Tracking Options with the Merge Mail Feature in Word 2002 (300514)

When you use Outlook 2002 as your e-mail client, you cannot use e-mail tracking options when you are merging to Electronic Mail in Microsoft Word 2002.
There is not an option that allows you to specify the tracking options.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because of product design, and because of the limitations of the Simple Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI).
The Mail Merge feature for Electronic Mail in Word 2002 uses Simple MAPI to communicate with your e-mail program. Simple MAPI cannot read or process Outlook 2002 user options, and e-mail tracking options are not available for messages that are sent using the Mail Merge feature.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, create your messages in Outlook 2002 and apply your tracking options.
