XADM: You May Be Unable to Integrate Exchange Server 5.5 Administrator Program with Windows NT 4.0 User Manager (300453)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q300453 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Exchange 2000 Server CD-ROM to install Exchange Server 5.5 Administrator program on a Windows 2000 Professional or a Windows 2000 Server computer that also has the Windows NT 4.0 User Manager for Domains tool, the Exchange 5.5 Administrator program and User Manager for Domains do not integrate. The Exchange Server computer may not be added to Windows NT 4.0 User Manager for Domains.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, you can install the Exchange Server 5.5 Administrator program from the Exchange Server 5.5 CD-ROM when integration with Windows NT 4.0 User Manager for Domains is necessary.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATION
The Exchange 2000 CD-ROM does not contain the code necessary to integrate with Windows NT 4.0 User Manager for Domains because there is no Microsoft Exchange User Manager extension. As you can only install Exchange 2000 on Windows 2000 Server computers in a Windows 2000 domain, support for Windows NT 4.0 Domain management tools is not included on the Exchange 2000 CD-ROM.
