Permissions Are Displayed in Mixed Languages in the Local Security Settings Tool with Windows 2000 MultiLanguage Version (300401)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP1
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP1
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP1
This article was previously published under Q300401 SYMPTOMS
If you install Windows 2000 MultiLanguage Version and switch to a different language, you may see mixed languages in the console for policy descriptions. The description of the policy for user rights assignment may contain, for example, one line in English
and may contain another line in German:
auf diesen Computer vom Netzwerk zugreifen
CAUSE
The mixed languages occur because of the different ways in which the strings for the user rights are retrieved. User rights that were added in recent versions of Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 are stored differently from earlier user rights.
