$Event URL$ Property Returns GUID of the Alert Instead of a Valid URL Link (300291)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2000

This article was previously published under Q300291

SYMPTOMS

When an Event Processing Rule is configured to send an alert that contains the $Event URL$ property, the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for the alert references the GUID of the alert and is not correctly formatted. Clicking the URL takes you to an error page that states "The page cannot be displayed" instead of to the Web console.

If you configure an e-mail response to the event that references the $Event URL$ property, you receive an error message that says that the event does not exist.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do not use the $Event URL$ property when you configure alerts and e-mail responses.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
