"The Operation Completed Successfully" May Be Displayed in the Cluster Wizard Details Yet the Task May Be Incomplete (300079)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
This article was previously published under Q300079 SYMPTOMS During the Analyzing Configuration phase of a server
cluster configuration, the computer may display both a list of items that are
going to be tested and a status of each test. (The status of an item is
indicated by a check mark, exclamation point, or a red-colored stop sign.)
While the analysis is being performed on the items, you can select an item and
review its detailed status report. However, if you select an item that has not
yet been analyzed, you may receive a status of "0x00000000" and the following
description may be displayed: "The operation completed successfully." Even
though this description may give you the impression that a task has completed,
the task may not have even been attempted. RESOLUTION To work around this behavior, wait until the Analyzing
Configuration phase is complete, and then search for your particular item. When
you have located your item, it must have one of the following symbols beside
it: a check mark, an exclamation point, or a red-colored stop sign.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
