SUMMARY

This article briefly lists issues that may impede the successful installation and deployment of Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Service Pack 1 (SP1). Because a full description of these issues is beyond the scope of this article, read the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Release Notes for additional information.

MORE INFORMATION

The following issues might impede the successful installation and deployment of Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1.

Running Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Update.exe from a Command Prompt

To run Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Update.exe from a command prompt, Update.exe and the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server.msi file must be in the same folder.

Installing Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Requires Specific Permissions

To install Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1, you must be logged on by using one of the following account combinations:
  • Local Administrator and Enterprise Administrator
  • Local Administrator, Domain Administrator, and Exchange Full Administrator at the organization level

Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Cannot Be Uninstalled

There is no uninstall option available for Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1. Uninstalling the service pack completely removes Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server from the server.

For additional information, see the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Release Notes.

Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 and Earlier Versions Cannot Coexist in a Single Site

Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 and earlier versions cannot coexist in a single site. To successfully deploy Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1, you must upgrade all of the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server computers in the existing site to Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1.

For additional information, see the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Release Notes.

After Only a Multipoint Control Unit Is Installed in a Site, If the Only Conference Management Service in the Forest Is in Another Site, the Multipoint Control Unit in the First Site Cannot Be Seen in Exchange Conferencing Manager When You Are Managing the Other Site

In a scenario in which there are two Microsoft Windows 2000 sites, site A and site B, after a Multipoint Control Unit (MCU)-only installation into site B, if the only Conference Management Service (CMS) in the Windows 2000 forest is in site A, you cannot see the MCU in site B in Exchange Conferencing Manager when you are managing site A.

For additional information, see the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Release Notes.

Anonymous Access to Web Scheduler Is Turned Off by Default

Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 enables anonymous users to schedule online conferences by using the Web interface. For better security, all of the resources are set up not to allow scheduling for anonymous users by default. To enable anonymous scheduling for selected resources, log on to the resource mailbox by using Microsoft Outlook, and then set the permissions for anonymous users to "Author."

For additional information, see the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Release Notes.

In order to set 'Default=Author' permissions on resource mailboxes to allow anonymous scheduling, Exchange 2000 Server SP1 (not to be confused with Conferencing Server SP1) must be installed on the Exchange Server where the resource mailboxes are homed.

Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Web Scheduler Might Potentially Return the Wrong Time Zone When You View a Scheduled Conference

If you schedule a conference by using Web Scheduler, the conference uses the time zone that is set on the server that is running Meeting Access Pages. If the server time zone is set to a server that has multiple time zones, and you schedule a conference by using Web Scheduler, the time is correct for the time zone that is associated with that conference, but that time zone may be the wrong time zone.

For additional information, see the Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1 Release Notes.

Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Meeting Access Pages Must Be Installed

Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server Meeting Access Pages must be installed on each Exchange 2000 server that hosts conference resource mailboxes that you want to upgrade to Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server SP1.
