Train Simulator: Keyboard Stops Responding (299740)

SYMPTOMS

When you are running Microsoft Train Simulator, the keyboard may stop responding.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if DirectX has become corrupted or if Train Simulator has lost "focus" and is no longer acceepting keyboard input.

RESOLUTION

Method 1: Use Alt-Tab to re-establish focus

To do this, press ALT+TAB to minimize the screen, and then press ALT+TAB again to maximize the screen.

Method 2: Download and install the latest version of DirectX

To download and install the latest version of DirectX, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Method 3: Clear the Simple Controls option

If neither of the previous methods resolve the issue, clear the Simple Controls option. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Start Train Simulator.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Click to clear the Simple Controls check box.
  5. Click Save to save this setting.
Play the game and test the keyboard.
