The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

This article was previously published under Q299640
NOTE: The information in this article applies to the Traditional Chinese, Greek, and Brazilian version%3 of Windows Millennium Edition.

SYMPTOMS

When you configure the transceiver type for certain infrared (IR) devices, you may not be able to select the Vishay E-series IR transceiver. This issue occurs only with the Traditional Chinese-language, Greek-language, and Brazilian-language versions of Windows Millennium Edition (Me).

CAUSE

This issue occurs because of a problem with the text string that the INF file contains.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, when you specify the IR transceiver in the Traditional Chinese-language, Greek-language, or Brazilian-language version of Windows Me, select the "Vishay TFDS-6500" for the Vishay E-series transceiver. To configure the transceiver type:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Network icon
  3. Click the infrared adapter in the list of networking components, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Advanced Tab, and then change the value for the transceiver to "Vishay TFDS-6500."

MORE INFORMATION

The correct entry, "Vishay TFDS-6101E/6501E," is listed in the transceiver types in all other versions of Windows Me. Because this issue is the result of a problem with the text string that the INF file contains, this issue does not have any effect on the functionality of the driver.
