BUG: Internet Explorer 5.5 May Not Print Table Beyond First Page (299446)

SYMPTOMS

When you print a multipage Web page that contains nested tables, only the first page may print.

CAUSE

Internet Explorer fails to render correctly if the table contains nested tables in which the height of the inner table is specified, but the height of the outer table is not specified.

RESOLUTION

Specify a height attribute for the outer table.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The CSS 2 specifications state that the height should automatically be computed if the inner block element specifies the height but a containing block element does not.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

The following table fails to print beyond the first page unless a height attribute is specified for the outer table.
