Money: Debt Reduction Planner Displays Inaccurate Payment Schedule (299420)

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to add a credit card account or make changes to an account already in the Debt Reduction Planner, an inaccurate payment schedule may be displayed.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you add or remove accounts, or change the payment amounts to something other than what was originally scheduled in the Planner. This behavior can also occur if you allow Microsoft Money to enter payments for a month that you have already paid.

RESOLUTION

Method 1

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Start Money.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. Click the Planner tab.
  4. In the Debt Reduction Planner pane, click Reset Debt Plan.
  5. Set up your accounts in the way that you want them.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, proceed to method 2.

Method 2

  1. Quit Money.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open dialog box, do one of the following, as appropriate to your situation:
    • If the data file that you want to repair is the file that you last used in Money, type the following line, and then click OK

      "drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\Msmoney.exe" -s

      where drive is the drive in which Windows is installed.

      NOTE: If Microsoft Money is installed to a location other than the default location, type the appropriate path to the Msmoney.exe file on the hard disk. Make sure that you include the quotation marks as indicated.

      Money restarts, and then it repairs the data file.

      -or-
    • If the data file that you want to repair is not the file that you last used in Money, type the following line, and then click OK

      "drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\Msmoney.exe" -s "drive:\path\filename.mny"

      where drive is the drive in which Windows is installed and drive:\path\filename.mny is the path to and name of the Microsoft Money data file that you want to repair.

      NOTE: If Microsoft Money is installed in a location other than the default location, type the appropriate path to the Msmoney.exe file on the hard disk. Make sure that you include the quotation marks as indicated.

      Money restarts, and then it repairs the data file.
  4. Set up your accounts in the way that you want them.
