SUMMARY

When you click Detect and Repair on the Help menu in any of the Office programs, you see the Discard my customized settings and restore default settings check box. This option allows you to reset some of the settings that you previously selected in the Office programs.

Actions Performed by the "Discard My Customized Settings and Restore Default Settings" Option

When you select the Discard my customized settings and restore default settings option in the Detect and Repair dialog box, the following events occur:
  • The Microsoft Office Profile Wizard (Proflwiz.exe) runs, using the Reseto10.ops file.

    NOTE: Both Proflwiz.exe and Reseto10.ops are located by default in the \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10 folder.
  • When the Profile Wizard is finished, the Windows Installer is started, in order to perform the Detect and Repair operation.

Settings Reset by Reseto10.ops

When the Profile Wizard uses the Reseto10.ops file, any settings stored in the following files or registry keys are removed and reset to the default values.

Files:

[AppDataFolder]\Microsoft\FrontPage\State\CmdUI.prf

NOTE: [AppDataFolder] is the \Application Data folder. The location of this folder varies, depending on the version of Microsoft Windows that is running on your computer.
