"14008 - DB5_RC_NO_MATCH_FOUND" Error Message May Be Displayed When You Use ADMA (298994)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Active Directory Management Agent (ADMA) in the Association mode and you configure ADMA to create enabled accounts in Active Directory, you may receive the following error message:
ERR_00 0740 01/05/15 10:40:15.484 (AD-MA_getLdapCreds) Could not open record "DC=Domain,DC=Com" : 14008 - DB5_RC_NO_MATCH_FOUND
Also, ADMA may have created only disabled (not enabled) accounts in Active Directory.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because the Management Agent (MA) attempts to locate its credentials to make a secure connection to Active Directory. The MA uses the Active Directory domain name, which does not exist in the Microsoft Metadirectory Services metaverse.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use either of the following two methods:
  • Run the MA in the Reflector mode.
  • Manually create a dummy node with the exact same distinguished name (DN) as reported in the log files in the Microsoft Metadirectory Services metaverse.
To create a dummy node in the metaverse:
  1. Record the DN that is displayed in the logs, for example, Domain.com.
  2. By using the Microsoft Metadirectory Services Compass, locate the node called "The Known Universe."
  3. Double-click The Known Universe to expand its contents. If you have a COM object, go to step 9.
  4. Right-click the The Known Universe, and then click Insert.
  5. In the Relative Name box, type: COM.
  6. Under Type of Object to Create, click the Domain Component, which is the last icon on the right, and then click Insert.
  7. When you observe a Properties page for COM, click OK.
  8. Click Cancel on the Insert Object under The Known Universe window.
  9. Under The Known Universe, right-click the COM object, and then click Insert.
  10. In the Relative Name box, type: domain.
  11. Under Type of Object to Create, click the Domain Component, which is the last icon on the right, and then click Insert.
  12. When you observe a Properties page for Domain, click OK.
  13. Click Cancel on the Insert Object under the COM window.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
