MAPS Access Violation Causes ASP 0115 Error (298852)

SYMPTOMS

Active Server Pages (ASP) pages fail with ASP 0115 errors.

CAUSE

The MCIS Administration and Provisioning Service (MAPS) Ispmast.dll file is causing a string comparison with a null pointer, which results in an access violation that produces the ASP error.

RESOLUTION

A check to assure that the length of the string that is represented is not NULL has been provided.

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
