PRB: Deleting the Last Destination Removes Log Shipping Completely (298810)

SYMPTOMS

If log shipping is set up with only one destination server, clicking the Delete button on the Log Shipping tab of the Maintenance Plan properties has the same effect as clicking the Remove Log Shipping button; it removes the log shipping pair completely.

To add another destination server after clicking either of these buttons, you will need to set up log shipping again using the Database Maintenance Wizard.

WORKAROUND

To add a destination to a log shipping pair while maintaining the present setup, add the new destination first and then delete the original secondary. This retains the present primary and monitor server setup and information.
