OFFXP: Error Message When You Use the Custom Maintenance Wizard with a Non-Enterprise Edition (298808)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use the Custom Maintenance Wizard (CMW) with a non-Enterprise (Retail) edition of Office XP, you receive the following error message:
The Office Custom Maintenance Wizard cannot use this MSI. See the Office Resource Kit website at http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork for more information about this wizard and the MSIs it is allowed to use.

CAUSE

The Custom Maintenance Wizard from the Microsoft Office XP Resource Kit can only be used with Windows Installer packages (.msi) that come from Enterprise editions of Office XP.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue and use the Custom Maintenance Wizard for Office XP, you must reference an .msi file from an Enterprise edition of Office XP.
