Can Configure MOM to Graph Current Performance Data but Cannot Configure Future Graphing (298772)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Operations Manager 2000

This article was previously published under Q298772

SUMMARY

This article describes the ability of Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) to display a graph of performance data, and the limitations of that ability.

MORE INFORMATION

The Reporting Tool in MOM can graph and display performance data. However, you can configure MOM to display only performance data that is already collected. You cannot configure MOM in advance to report performance data at some specified time in the future.

For example, you can configure MOM to graph and display current data for Physical Disk - Writes Per Second for a computer or for a group of computers, but you cannot configure MOM in advance to display a graph of Writes Per Second data that will be collected through some future time.

You can also use the MOM Web Console (OpsPortal) to generate and view reports of performance data. To use OpsPortal to display a graph of performance data:
  1. Start the OpsPortal.
  2. Click Go to Views, and then click All Performance.
  3. Click the computer whose performance you want to view in a graph.
  4. Click the object that you want to graph, and then click Graph.
