The Color Quality Resets When You Change the Screen Resolution (298650)

If you change the screen resolution of a Windows XP-based computer, the color depth may automatically change to the maximum supported value regardless of any previous settings.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Windows XP automatically uses the maximum color depth that is available for any given resolution.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, open Control Panel, and then double-click Display. On the Settings tab under Color Quality, click the setting of your choice.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
