SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Windows, the following error message may appear:
Error Starting Program

A required .DLL file, PNGU3263.DLL, was not found.
When you click OK, your computer starts normally.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when the RealJukebox media player is installed on your computer. RealJukebox requires the Pngu3263.dll file for proper operation. If this file is missing or corrupted, RealJukebox cannot start.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Uninstall and Reinstall RealJukebox

Reinstall RealJukebox to replace any missing or damaged files. To uninstall and then reinstall RealJukebox, follow these steps:
  1. On the taskbar, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, click RealJukebox on the Install/Uninstall tab, and then click Add/Remove.

    You receive the following message:

    Are you sure you want to completely remove
    the RealJukebox and all of its components?

  4. Click OK twice, and then restart your computer.
  5. Reinstall RealJukebox. For instructions on how to do this, contact the manufacturer. See the "More Information" section of this article.

Method 2: Turn off RealJukebox or Remove RealJukebox from the Startup Group

To turn off RealJukebox, follow these steps:
  1. On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type Msconfig, and then click OK.
  3. In System Configuration utility, click to clear all check boxes related to the RealJukebox program on the Startup tab, for example, RealJukeboxSystray.
  4. Click Apply, click OK, and then click Yes to restart your computer.

    To remove RealJukebox from the Startup tab, follow these steps.

    WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

    1. Click Start, click Run, and then type Regedit to start Registry Editor.
    2. Locate any RealJukebox values under the following key in the registry:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    3. Right-click each RealJukebox value, and then click Delete.
    4. Quit Registry Editor.
