PRB: AuthFilter Secured Sites Cannot Use Host Headers (298538)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2002
  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q298538

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 sites that are secured with AuthFilter cannot use Host Headers for the Web site where the Commerce site is located.

CAUSE

Host Headers and SSL do not function together. Therefore, because AuthFilter requires the use of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for its encryption of the user's credentials, Host Headers cannot be used on the site.
