How to Purge Old Data from the OnePoint Database (298382)

This article describes how to clear data from the OnePoint database without uninstalling and then reinstalling the OnePoint database.

It is not possible to purge the OnePoint database completely. However, you can configure grooming to remove old items. Follow these steps to adjust the Database Grooming function:
  1. In the Operations Manager Microsoft Management Console (MMC), expand Configuration, and then click Global Settings.
  2. In the right pane, right-click Database Grooming, and then click Properties. Click the Database Grooming tab.
  3. For each record type, select the record type, click Edit, and then change the grooming times to 24 hours or to one day.

    NOTE: There are many jobs that have a run time of 24 hours or one day. It is not advisable to permanently configure the grooming time to less than 24 hours or one day.
  4. Stop the OnePoint service on the Consolidator computer.
  5. Start SQL Enterprise Manager, and under the (OnePoint) SQL Server, expand Management, expand SQL Server Agent, and then click Jobs.
  6. Right-click OnePoint - Groom Events, and then click Start Job.
  7. Let this process run to completion.
  8. Follow the same SQL steps for the OnePoint - Groom Alerts and the Groom Sampled Numeric Data options.
  9. Start the OnePoint service, and set Database Grooming to your preferred settings in the Operations Manager MMC.
