SYMPTOMS

A kernel debugger connection may be lost while the computer starts. When this occurs, the COM port is enumerated as if the system is not in Debug mode.

CAUSE

This behavior is caused by a synchronization problem in the Acpi.sys driver.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
