BUG: Access Violation in MSRDO20.dll When You Use RDO (298092)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Remote Data Objects (RDO) to run an application, a sporadic access violation (0xC0000005) occurs inside the MSRDO20.dll file.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

Due to a bug in the Microsoft Oracle Driver (MSORCL10.dll), you may encounter a deadlock after you apply the fix. Thus, to avoid this problem, you should upgrade to Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or later.
