When you start Microsoft Visio, the Windows Installer displays a dialog box with the following message:
However, Microsoft Visio never completely starts, because this Windows Installer dialog box is never dismissed.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if all of the following are true:
- You installed Office 2000.
- You installed the non SR-1 version of Visio 2000.
- You installed Office XP and chose to have Office 2000 removed during the Office XP installation.
NOTE: When you click Upgrade Now during the Office XP installation, Office 2000 is automatically removed.
This problem also can occur if all of the following are true:
- You installed Office 2000.
- You installed the SR-1 version of Visio 2000 by using the unattended installation package, Vis2000.msi.
- You installed Office XP and chose to have Office 2000 removed during the Office XP installation.
NOTE: Vis2000.msi is only available on Select CDs.
RESOLUTIONSingle Installation Scenario
To resolve this problem on a single installation of Visio, re-apply the Vba6.msi Windows Installer package. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the \Install\Bin\SP\VBA folder on your Visio CD.
- Right-click Vba6.msi and then click Install on the shortcut menu.
- Click OK when the installation is finished.
Large Deployment Scenario
If you are deploying Office XP across a large number of computers, you can chain the installation of the Vba6.msi Windows Installer package onto the Office XP installation. Doing this prevents the behavior from occurring.
To chain the installation of Vba6.msi with the Office XP installation, follow these steps.
NOTE: You must have an Enterprise edition of Office in order to use the following steps. For additional information, click the article number below
